Description
Replacement Solenoid Relay for the Starter Motor
Generator Guru says:
If you are replacing your solenoid it is because it has burnt out. For this to happen there would have been an electrical surge in the 12 volt system. Unfortunately, when the solenoid burns out it could have damaged a few other parts as well, such as the "Starter Motor to Solenoid Wire," the "Battery Charging Rectifier," and possibly the battery also.
When testing with a multi-meter, you should get 13v DC to the battery when the generator is running. If you are getting a higher reading (or no reading at all), then the battery charging rectifier needs replacing, before it damages your battery too.
