Saw this and thought this was a good idea after reading you can start an engine with it. He was right. I removed the pull start and use a socket and my drill and my little gen starts every time. Not sure best idea if using everyday as the fan is open. I am going to make a metal plate to cover the fan with a hole in the middle. So i can use it all the time. Generator Guru Response: if you make a plate be sure it has a lot of air holes as there is a high chance the engine will overheat otherwise. The fan you see is the engine fan and keeps the engine cool. Perhaps, if this is your plan, you use a Recoil housing for the cover as it has the correct amount of air vent holes. BE CAFEFUL WHEN OPERATING ANY ENGINE WITHOUT THE CORRECT COVERS IN PLACE AS THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF LOOSE CLOTHING OR OTHER ITEMS GETTING CAUGHT IN THE ENGINE. THIS IS A RISK TO LIFE!!!! BE SURE TO REMOVE ANY LOOSE CLOTHING BEFORE PERFORMING SUCH ACTIONS!!
I use these to start pull start engines. Remove the recoil and put on flywheel nut. A short burst on drill and pull off as engine starts. Saves my shoulder. I am a small engine mechanic so very good as my shoulder hurts after all these years of pulling engines over. Thanks Generator Guru
