Replacement Mechanical Seal, made up of 2 pieces, with tension spring.

Generator Guru Says:

If you notice any drop in pressure take apart your pump and inspect the Volute and Impeller for wear or cracking. A full failure of either part can result in the whole pump being smashed apart, as the engine turns the Impeller at 3000 to 3600 rpm, and any metal breaking off will surely do massive damage to the Pump. These do not fail often, but can get broken by large unfiltered particles in the water, or over time as small unfiltered abrasive particles in the water move within the impeller.

If these both look in good condition, then you might need to replace the Mechanical Seal. This Seal sits behind the Impeller. It retains the water flowing through the Pump and maintains the pressure on the Impeller needed for the Pump to function efficiently. If your Pump is leaking where the Pump is fitted to the engine, or is losing pressure but the Impeller and Volute look in good condition, then you need to replace the Mechanical Seal.

We also highly recommend you replace the O-Ring Seals when reassembling the Pump. Old O-Ring seals can crack and pinch, causing loss in pressure and water leakage from the Pump casing.
