This part will wear out over time. It is used to conduct the current from the rotor to the AVR. Your brushes should protrude 13mm from the housing to make a stable connection with the rotor. Remove the brushes before measuring.

I am in hurricane-affected Puerto Rico with no electricity projection on one year. This product definitely looks good enough to withstand the long-term power need.
