Generator Guru says:
If the recoil wheel has broken on the original, then it is advisable to check the oil level. If there is too much oil in the engine it will also change the compression ratio. Remove any excess oil.
If you oil the rope with petroleum jelly it will stop the rope from fraying.
If you are having issues starting the Generator, why not open a support ticket with one of our Generator Engineers. It should be easy to pull over the engine.

after spending days trying to find spare parts for my generator and finding out that The company had gone bust,I was about to throw it away ,when I found your site.
