Generator Guru says:
If the recoil wheel has broken on the original, then it is advisable to check the oil level. If there is too much oil in the engine it will also change the compression ratio. Remove any excess oil.
If you oil the rope with petroleum jelly it will stop the rope from fraying.
If you are having issues starting the Generator, why not open a support ticket with one of our Generator Engineers. It should be easy to pull over the engine.

had old generator, busted starter cord assembley,spent hours trying to find part, then found this company, was not sure what was needed, their on line guru informed me the part i was veiwing on the site was correct, two days later it arrived, fitted it no problem in five mins, job done, reasonable price, great service, would recomend to anyone

Dump it or repair it ?

I had a choice with myGenerator.Either bin it or replace the broken recoil. I thought it would be too expensive to repair but was amazed to find the price made it feasable.I ordered the part and within a week it fitted like a glove and the machine was fully functional again.
