Generator Guru says:
If the recoil wheel has broken on the original, then it is advisable to check the oil level. If there is too much oil in the engine it will also change the compression ratio. Remove any excess oil.
If you oil the rope with petroleum jelly it will stop the rope from fraying.
If you are having issues starting the Generator, why not open a support ticket with one of our Generator Engineers. It should be easy to pull over the engine.

After 8 years my recoil system was coming to its last few pulls. Needed to replace. Excellent replacement, no mods required.

I only needed the recoil element that is not sold separately, despite this the complete unit made fitting very easy and saved a lot of fiddling around.
