Generator Guru says:
If the recoil wheel has broken on the original, then it is advisable to check the oil level. If there is too much oil in the engine it will also change the compression ratio. Remove any excess oil.
If you oil the rope with petroleum jelly it will stop the rope from fraying.
If you are having issues starting the Generator, why not open a support ticket with one of our Generator Engineers. It should be easy to pull over the engine.

I broke the original return spring after ten years. Then waited to the last minute to order a replacement, The part was shipped promptly and installed with out any problems. And worked with out issue during Hunting camp. Thanks...

Recoil assembly for my generator

The unit arrived in a timely manne r from Jolly old England and Ifound the the replacement unit has some improvements in it’s manufacture. Some of the more critical parts are made of a nylon material instead of regular plastic. Very pleased. It fit perfectly.

The recoil mechanism failed on my generator was unable to find any spares for it, but guessed it was made by one manufacturer then badged for the retailers brand. Through Guru Generators web site I was able to find a recoil mechanism that looked identical in every way. Took a bit of a gamble and ordered it and it fitted perfectly. Probably a bit of inspired guesswork but through Generator Guru I now have a working generator which otherwise would have been heading for the tip!
