Generator Guru says: This part “Primes” your engine for running. It assists the fuel through the Diaphragm Pump and to your Carb before starting the engine. If you’re replacing this item it is probably because modern fuel has ethanol added. Ethanol is a cleaning agent used to "fill out" fuel and to reduce harmful emissions. The concentration of ethanol added to fuel can damage your Primer Bulb dome resulting in failure.
