It is common for the capacitor on a generator to test as working correctly, but then fail when the higher voltages are applied to it by the alternator. It is advisable to always change your Generator Capacitor if the voltage changes (and the engine is normal speed.) This causes 99% of the problems with the electricity output on brushless generators and can damage your alternator if it completely fails, sending a high voltage through the alternator. This could burn out the windings and result in a very expensive replacement being required.
The Capacitor is essential to your Generator producing electricity. It is required to excite the Alternator windings and reduce voltage surges. Capacitors should last the lifetime of the generator, but can burn out or be damaged if any of the following occur:
Generator user has tried to draw more power than the Generator can produce.
A surge has happened on equipment and the capacitor has blown to protect the Alternator.
The Capacitor is made of Paper cells and has degraded. (Usually found on Chinese built generators.)

Long life generator condenser

I had been using an unsightly temporary fix which has lasted a lot longer than it should have. Lots of vendors advertised what they called 'correct or genuine' parts, this included the original manufacturer's listing. Fortunately a guy called Jo did know what he was talking about, that resulted in my taking what I considered to be a gamble at the time. It turned out to be a good choice for me, the part dropped straight into the cavity for it and gave me the correct frequency when the engine was running. Price was cheaper than most of the other suppliers I looked at, service and delivery were excellent. If you know what you are looking for then people like Jo will not be needed, the company has an extensive range of parts covering most manufacturers. For others, Jo is essential. No hesitation in recommending him and the company.

Long Life Generator Condenser Capacitor

This appears to be an upgrade over the original equipment supplied by DeWalt. I exchanged photos of the original and the replacement with Generator Guru and they confirmed that the replacement was the correct one for my generator. I cannot speak to how well it works because the main breaker on the generator was removed pending replacement and although a new breaker was found the original wiring for the breaker was not noted when it was removed and I have been unable to find installation (wiring) information to test the generator. Basically.....I got nothing....sorry.
