**If your Capacitor has 5 or more wires protruding from it, this is an AVR, not a capacitor. Please go back to the generator model page to purchase an AVR**
High specification Generator Capacitor
Generator Guru says:
It is common for the capacitor on a generator to test as working correctly, but then fail when the higher voltages are applied to it by the alternator. It is advisable to always change your Generator Capacitor if the voltage changes (and the engine is normal speed.) This causes 99% of the problems with the electricity output on brushless generators and can damage your alternator if it completely fails, sending a high voltage through the alternator. This could burn out the windings and result in a very expensive replacement being required.
The Capacitor is essential to your Generator producing electricity. It is required to excite the Alternator windings and reduce voltage surges. Capacitors should last the lifetime of the generator, but can burn out or be damaged if any of the following occur:
Generator user has tried to draw more power than the Generator can produce.
A surge has happened on equipment and the capacitor has blown to protect the Alternator.
The Capacitor is made of Paper cells and has degraded. (Usually found on Chinese built generators.)
Replaced the old capacitor with the new one and now generator works like a charm.
My only concern is that old capacitor was rated at 450v and the new one is 350. It is a 120/240v generator. Will the new 350v rated capacitor hold up.

Capacitor supply

As an electrician with over 30 years experience servicing industrial equipment I share your philosophy of "repair not replace" entirely. The capacitor supplied was identical to the original and was an exact fit. Another very happy customer.

Watched generator guru information video on fault and recommendations, spot on, capacitor purchased and fault rectified. No voltage coming from brushless generator, required new capacitor to excite cor magnets (I Think).

Just what i needed. Took 2 minutes to fit and now got power again! Looks much better made than original capacitor on my chinese generator. Thanks for advice too! Saved me buying a new generator.

It was the right replacement part, which your web site advised. The only issue was the connector. The original part had a “male” connector; the replacement a “female”. I just swapped the connectors and it worked.
