This part will wear out over time. It is used to conduct the current from the rotor to the AVR. Your brushes should protrude 13mm from the housing to make a stable connection with the rotor. Remove the brushes before measuring.

Quick turn around on shipping. only wish the part that holds the brushes was made of something other than polymer plastic. It was what actually failed on my original part. It overheated and melted and the brush ended up out of alignment not making contact to produce electrical current.
