This part will wear out over time. It is used to conduct the current from the rotor to the AVR. Your brushes should protrude 13mm from the housing to make a stable connection with the rotor. Remove the brushes before measuring.

While initially apprehensive about ordering a product from over seas while based in the United States I quickly figured out that Generator Guru was the only place online that had what I needed and the site was easy to use. The product arrived within the allotted time and was well packaged. It was an exact fit. Very impressed over all.
Although the price of the part was on the high side, typical for Chinese generators, the quality of the part and especially the instructional video was outstanding. Turned my $350 useless generator into a working unit again, even though I had no prior experience working on this type of equipment I was able to change the brushes with ease in 5 minutes.
